St Albans with reservations

Sunday 12th June 2011

The Austin was working again on Saturday; this time in St Albans. St Peters is close to the shops and there was a constant stream of people walking past as I waited outside the Church with the car. Inevitably it attracted a lot of attention and compliments; "what a lovely old car" and "oh, look at the gorgeous wedding car" are fairly typical. You'd think I would be getting bored of all this by now, but not at all. It was fascinating to chat to everyone and hear stories of old cars which they, or their parents, or grandparents had owned. The 45 minute wait whilst the service was going on seemed to fly by. I also handed out three business cards during the day so it was good for marketing too.

Then it was off to Sandridge for the reception. I knew the venue was at a field in the countryside behind the village and I was expecting to see a large marquee. Imagine my surprise when we turned the corner and were confronted by a pair of Red Indian wigwams. Or were they teepees? I don't know the difference. Anyway, I thought they were really quirky and different. I know there are a few cowboys in the district but now we seem to have some Red Indians!

Talking about the difference between a wigwam and a tepee reminds me of an old joke. What's the difference between a buffalo and a bison? A special prize for the first person to email the answer!
