Happy birthday Martha!

Happy birthday Martha!

Sunday 2nd October 2011

This week I took some time off from the vintage cars to help my granddaughter celebrate her birthday. Little Martha is a sweetie and she was 2 on Thursday. She loved being the centre of attention as she opened her cards and presents. She also insisted on trying on every item of clothing that emerged from the wrapping paper. Even at her tender age, her female instincts were kicking in. I can imagine her in twenty years' time, spending many a happy hour shopping for clothes, trying everything on and ultimately buying the first thing she had looked at.

On Wednesday Martha visited her Auntie Kathryn and Uncle Karl in Banbury and we tagged along for the ride. We had a lovely little party with tea and cakes and, of course, some early birthday presents, one of which was a gorgeous fairy queen dress. She absolutely had to try in on and then spent ages flouncing around in her "pretty dress". Great fun!

Work on the car proceeds apace. Most of the underneath has now been cleaned and painted with black under-seal; the local carpet shop has sold me some off-cuts of underlay to help deaden the noise and that will be fitted tomorrow; then a good clean and polish should make the car very presentable for the wedding exhibition at the Alban Arena next Sunday. If you happen to be in St Albans on Sunday 9th, please do come along and say hello.
